The biggest change for many businesses is the substantial rise in the minimum pay requirements for skilled worker visa applicants, which will move from £26,200 to £38,700 on April 4, 2024. Particularly affected would be companies that rely on middle-class foreign workers, such those in the hotel industry.
Additionally, the current Shortage Occupation List will be replaced by a new, stricter Immigration Salary List. This change is likely to affect businesses in the health and social care sector, together with new rules for sponsors and restrictions on certain employees’ ability to bring dependents.
